ABOUT PETER OBERACKER

They say there are two things you should never see made, laws and sausage. Well, Peter Oberacker knows both.

The son of a German sausage maker, Peter grew up working in his family’s meat market in Schenevus, New York, starting at just eight years old. It was there he learned the values that still guide him today, hard work, discipline, and finishing the job. From his father, he learned the day doesn’t end by the clock, but when the work is done. From his mother, a local elected official, he learned that public service is about giving back to the community that raised you.

Peter took those lessons and built a life rooted in both business and service. He launched a career as a food scientist, where among his many successes he led the research and development team that created the Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich. He went on to found FormTech Solutions, growing it into a successful multi-million-dollar international food innovation company. In 2017, he made the uncommon decision to move the company’s headquarters back to his hometown in Upstate New York, bringing jobs and opportunity with him, without taking a single dollar of taxpayer assistance.

Along the way, Peter built a reputation as a real-world problem solver, someone who understands how hard people work for their money because he has lived it. But for Peter, success was never just about business. Inspired by his mother’s example, he stepped up to serve, first on his local town board, then as Town Supervisor, County Representative, and now as a New York State Senator. In every role, he has focused on delivering results, keeping taxes low, and standing up for the people he represents. He has never created a budget that raised taxes.

He has spent nearly four decades serving his community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, experiencing firsthand what it means to answer the call when people need help most.

Peter is married to his high school sweetheart, Shannon, for 38 years. They raised two children and are now proud grandparents. Of all his titles, “Pop-Pop” is the one he cherishes most, and it is what drives him every day to make sure his children and grandchildren have the same opportunity to succeed, to build a life, and to achieve the American Dream right here at home.

Peter Oberacker is a proven businessman, a results-driven leader, and a dedicated public servant. He believes in common sense, accountability, and putting people over politics, and he brings that mindset to every decision he makes.

Because at the end of the day, whether it is business, public service, or even sausage, Peter Oberacker knows how it is made, and more importantly, how to get it right.
